A medium is not a fortune-teller, so do not have any expectation of them to advise you about the future or how your relationships or finances will turn out, despite what others may have informed you of this. A medium can only give what they are given for you from the spirit world.
A medium is someone who acknowledges and validates a spiritual energy which has passed from the physical world, and gives evidence of an afterlife.
It is almost impossible to expect a specific spirit to be commanded to communicate with you via a medium. You should be prepared to expect just about anyone you knew to come through. A common misconception of mediumship is that mediums raise the dead. The reality is that the medium is purely a facilitator of energy through which communication is made.
During a private reading you can expect to be given information which is accurate and even if you cannot verify this information during the reading, it is most likely that you will be able to confirm the information afterwards. Evidence of survival may come in many forms, but some consideration for your ability to accept it, is commonplace.
Evidential messages are what you should be given, and not a series of general statements that could apply to anyone. A good medium will be able to provide specific information to you, but they may not be able to give you a huge amount of detail. They can only give to you what they are getting.
